Re:Silkies
We tried the silkies but Pickles didn't want them and Izzy finished off the live ones but most of them died so we didn't get to share with Hippo :( I don't think we will buy them again as they were too expensive anyways. Izzy loves her crickets and has a huge appetite. I am feeding both lizards greens in the am to encourage taking them.

Izzy tries silkies
I ordered some silkworms online and both lizards tried them but the baby only ate one then took 2 crickets instead. Izzy ate several but never finished hers preferring crickets as well. I guess for a treat once in a while they will be ok. We will share some with Hippo next week so Christine can see if he likes them. The second pic is of Izzy exploring the kitchen. It shows off her beautiful pattern.

Welcome to the family Pickles!!!
Our newest addition is Pickles. She looks to be about 4 months old. Someone left her at the Partners petstore in Round Rock over the weekend. She has several shades of olive green and browns and orange under her ears. A real cutie and running around tasting everything. She ate 3 crickets and we are just getting her cage ready now. She runs very fast and is an escape artist already.
**Her owner also left a very friendly adult male at Partners if anyone is interested in adopting a Beardie. He is mostly gray but has quite a bit of yellow coloration to him. He loves being held.

Izzy liking her misting & a trip to the petstore
Izzy must be feeling better because she is licking the water droplets from her nose when I spray her :) I held a male Bearded Dragon at the pet store in Round Rock this afternoon and boy was he active and big. Instead of just laying quietly on your chest he claws his way up onto your shoulder and nuzzles your neck while he looks around. This guy came up to me and said, "Wow I would never hold that thing. You're braver than I am. " I offered to show the guy how to hold him but he just couldn't do it. He did pet the dragon though. I'll bring Kati back in to see him after school as it is good for her to see what and active and healthy dragon is like. Hopefully Izzy ends up having as much spunk as this guy did (maybe a little bit less). They all seem so different.
Medicine day 2
This is our 1st atttempt to give antibiotics to Izzy. Izzy puffed out her beard a bit and looks mad in the after pic. She somehow managed to get Mom with one of her spikes because she was struggling so much but but we managed and then she was rewarded by basking in the window sill. She took a bit of collard greens which is a good sign and seemed more active this am. We only kept her out for 10 min and then she went back into her cage as she needs to be under the heat lamp a lot during her recovery time.

Izzy's Online Friend Hippo
First Visit to the Vet
I'm so glad I went to the vet this morning. I finally found out why it is that I am so tired and not feeling very hungry. The vet talked about a bacterial infection and some parasitic stuff too so now I am on 3 meds and should start to feel better soon. I didn't enjoy being prodded to discover that yes indeed I am probably a female. But the worst part was when I had to go to the procedure room to get some food and medicine through a feeding tube. After the procedure I was very pale with almost no color and my beard was black for about 20 minutes. After that I started to get some color and then felt a lot better after basking. This afternoon I had a spoonful of chicken babyfood but refused a cricket once again. Here are some pics of me basking today.

Texas Bluebonnet Adventures
Welcome to Izzy's blog
4/15/07 I was adopted by this nice family. I'm 11 mos. old and so far they think I am a girl. My previous owner was afraid of me so never held me or let me run around the house like I do now. I used to open my mouth, hiss, & puff out my beard at him. My new owners weren't going to let me keep putting on those displays because they are dedicated to showing me how to be a great pet. They handle me often even though I am their first Beardie. Maybe I just like girls better? They bring me to the pet store, for car rides, & for walks & I'm already used to my leash. I've never hissed once since I've been here & no longer puff up my beard when I'm picked up. Why bother? I might get to sit in the window sill or lay on a warm tummy to watch TV. I've been stubborn lately so I had a spoon of chicken baby food mixed with cactus greens this am & have perked up. I get baths to stay hydrated but am not so sure about them yet. I feel cozy in my new home and the cat, Sunshine, knows who is boss in this house. Furball! I am really getting used to this royal treatment :) Izzy
If you'd like to post or include pics of your bearded dragon that would be great! I'll add new pics soon :)
